I am Canadian.
- I could ice skate before I could walk.
- I say “eh” --- but only around Husband because he never makes fun of me for it.
- I love Barenaked Ladies, especially the Gordon album.
- I’m ok with it being called “socialized medicine.”
And what is perhaps the most Canadian thing about me – I have a hard time being proud of anything. We are not a boastful people.
But this, without doubt, is the proudest I’ve ever been of any green/simple adventure I’ve been on. This, ladies and gentlemen - is My Eight Dollar Bread Machine.
- I am proud of myself for not spending two hundred dollars on the fancy bread machine I've had my eye on for months.
- I am proud of myself for being patient and scouring the Goodwill until I found one.
- I am proud of myself for not getting grossed out that it was kinda gross, and I just took a bucket of vinegar and a sponge to it.
- I am proud that I Goggled the model number and downloaded the manual from the internet.
- I am proud of the fact that my house smells like bread and we can now enjoy the most easy, tasty and beautiful bread I’ve ever seen. Not to mention chemical free.
I am still kind of shocked that making bread in a machine literally means throwing the ingredients in (all five of them, for the loaf to the left) pushing a button and waiting three hours for that pretty thing to emerge. Awesome.
I am exceedingly proud of simple my score. But I’m still Canadian so I’m going to apologize for bragging.
Soory.
